Product launch checklist

This is a working checklist for launching a software product, split into before launch, launch day and after. Tick items as you go: your progress is saved in this browser.

It’s for small teams and solo makers launching on a launch board, in a community or to their own audience. It focuses on the things that hurt most when they’re missed, like a broken checkout or a launch with no way to measure what worked.

How to use the Launch Checklist

  1. Start a week or two before your launch, with the first group.
  2. Tick each item when it’s really done, not planned. Test checkout with a real card.
  3. Keep launch day light. If you’ve done the first group, you can spend the day talking to people.
  4. Come back after launch for the follow-up. It’s the part most people skip.

What to get right first

If you’re short on time, test the path a new user takes from your link through sign-up and payment, on a phone, using real money. A launch brings many people through that path at once, and a bug there costs you the attention you worked to get. Everything else can be fixed on the day.

Measure it, or you won’t learn from it

Before you share a link anywhere, tag it so you can tell the channels apart. A week later you’ll know whether your newsletter or a community post sent people who stuck around. Our UTM Builder makes those links, and it takes about a minute.

Why the follow-up matters

Launch traffic fades quickly, but the people who signed up are the start of something lasting. A short personal email asking what brought them often teaches you more than the launch numbers do, and those replies tell you what to build next.

Questions

How far ahead should I start?

A week or two is enough for most small products, as long as the product already works. Technical checks are quick to do but slow to fix under pressure, so don’t leave the first group for launch morning.

Where are my ticks saved?

In this browser, on this device. They aren’t uploaded, so you won’t see them on another device, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Do I need everything on the list?

No. It’s a prompt, and a side project needs less than a paid product. But anything involving payment, data or legal pages deserves a real check if real people are going to rely on it.
